The Turning Cradle: The Untold Story of Alfredo Lim

The 2013 Elections is coming up! And politicians as usual will do their best to mock their opponents which I find really amusing to watch. However, if either side crosses the line and things end up in a bloodbath then it’s not funny at all.

Just in time for the start of the campaigns, we were told that the person running as Mayor to the country’s capital is actually getting himself what his opponent once had. And from someone who mocks a gangster like Asiong Salonga or the actor who once played the role, isn’t it hypocritical to use the title format of his opponent’s film? lol. No offense meant. I’m just asking.

I’m siding nobody here but it’s funny to think that Manila Kingpin: The Untold Story of Asiong Salonga will have to face The Turning Cradle: The Untold Story of Alfredo Lim (unintentionally) in a way. Only this time, the latter is not an alias but the person’s real name. Looks like someone is really turning someone’s cradle! No wonder he’s touted as Dirty Harry! Oh, why not entitle it ‘The Turning Cradle: The Untold Story of Dirty Harry instead? Just a thought.

Now let’s talk about the film which stars Cesar Montano. And allow me to start with Cesar Montano. I really find it funny how his recent portrayals has shifted down from a national hero, to a revolutionary and ‘traitor’ (at least according to El Presidente) and now a city mayor. It’s actually quite amusing than the source material that lead me into discovering this film set for a February 2013 release. Aren’t seasoned actors supposed to portray bigger roles

But anyway, I just learned that this isn’t the first movie based on the life of Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim.In fact, it’s his fourth biopic which aims to humanize the Mayor. Actor Rudy Fernandez was the first to portray his life in the 1977 movie ‘Alfredo Lim’. It was followed by films Target: Police General MAj. Gen. Alfredo S. Lim Story in 1990 and Alfredo Lim: Batas Ng Maynila in 1995. And for the fourth time around, Alfredo Lim is going to be portrayed by Cesar Montano. To why there’s a fourth film coming we don’t know!

The Turning Cradle: The Untold Story of Alfredo Lim is also starring Tirso Cruz III, Rez Cortez, Alvin Anson and Cesar Montano’s leading lady – in real life? – Krista Miller.
